WHATS HAPPENING
Concept DA engagement now open!
Use the button below to provide your feedback on the Concept DA plans by midnight on Friday 11th April. Be sure to first review the Concept DA plans, which are available further below.
Concept DA Plans now available
The Concept DA plans are now available for review by the community and provide important context and information for the survey above. You can download these plans using the button below.
Please be aware that these plans are a work in progress. As the design development process continues, there may be modifications and updates to the plans. This ongoing refinement ensures that the final design meets the needs and expectations of the community while adhering to regulatory requirements and best practices.
How has the concept evolved?
Feedback received to date has shaped significant changes to the development concept since the Tender Concept Phase. We’ve put together a brief summary of the key changes and their supporting reasons.
Tender concept engagement results

COMING
Community panel
A Community Panel (panel) has been established to represent the diversity of the Woden community, including local residents, community organisations, and businesses.
This panel met during the Tender Concept engagement phase and provided meaningful feedback on the design at that stage. These inputs, together with community and stakeholder feedback have informed the evolution of the design to date.
The panel will meet again during the Concept DA Phase to provide further commentary and feedback on the latest design.
Next steps for the design team
The next phase of design development will focus on the facade strategy, including:
Material selection to ensure durability, aesthetics, and sustainability.
Building articulation to enhance visual interest and scale.
Shading solutions to improve thermal comfort and energy efficiency.
Integration with the surroundings, ensuring the buildings complement the urban fabric and public realm.
These refinements will shape how the buildings look, feel, and present themselves within the context of the surrounding environment, advancing the overall design evolution.
Before construction begins, we will thoroughly test and refine these plans to ensure they meet community expectations and align with the Place Design Brief. We encourage you to participate in engagement activities and share your feedback.
WHERE ARE WE?
We’re currently in Phase 3 of our project roadmap: Concept DA Consultation.
YOUR WODEN VILLAGE:
It all begins with your ideas.
Community engagement actively involves individuals and groups in the decision-making processeses on issues that affect their lives. It fosters a sense of belonging, enhances local knowledge, and encourages collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
We will prioritise open communication and participation so you can be a part of solving shared challenges and creating positive change.
The ACT Government engaged with the local community across 2022 and 2023 to discuss the opportunities for the future development of the site. Key themes that emerged from these discussions included safety, versatility, connectivity and accessibility, and access to nature within urban spaces—highlighting the importance of green spaces in urban environments.
In March 2023 the Suburban Land Agency (SLA) released the Phillip Block 1, Section 7 Place Design Brief as a record of its early engagement with the community. It summarises the functions, attributes, and development characteristics that the community identify as desirable and wish to see implemented within the new development site.
Below are the five objectives deriving from the Place Design Brief to represent the community’s strongest values for the site.
